You will never ever see the world from another perspective than your own. I struggled with hearing this statement although it is true. I take pride in being in being extremely empathetic. While that statement doesn't seem true for myself, as I could put myself in any living beings shoes and almost understand them. Not everyone has this gift. A lot of people are stuck believing only themselves, and I can't change that...right away. I feel this is true for people stuck in their ways of not believing climate change. They can't seem to put themselves in the shoes of those who live near these environmental disasters, can't imagine the reality some have of waking up to grey skies, barely being able to breath from smoke, and brush it off as nothing. They can't imagine themselves as an animal in the amazon forest smelling and hearing the fire approaching. Not being able to be quick enough they feel the warmth increase from the ground onto their paws. The fire grows behind them and slowly approaches until they feel the heat engulf them. The smell of burnt fur fills the air, the fire then boils the skin, then moving to the insides. This animal now lies dead on a burning forest floor. A forest that used to provide the entire planet with oxygen to live. What we can do to help these stubborn people, is be persistent with facts, and physical proof of what you believe again, again, and again. Quitting is not an option, the whole planet has to be on board for us to save it. Continue to put images like the one I described in their heads. It is very real, and affects us, children, and any future generations if we can save the future in the first place. It's been hard for me to understand that not everyone is filled with as much empathy as I am. I will not give up, I believe everyone has at least an ounce of good within them. If that good is there they must be capable of empathy, just need a little visualization and persistence from someone who cares deeply to understand.
